How do you tame thick, kinky, dry, poofy asian hair?!?

Unlike other asians blessed with long thick STRAIGHT smooth hair, i magically have thick, dry, nasty, kinky/wavy, poofy asian hair. I mean, its sooo dry, if i literally have to put a whole 8 oz container of olive oil overnight for it to look somewhat decent for 2 hours the next day (and my hair is short ... up to my chin... katie holmes length). Seriously, i've tried olive oil, beer, and kerastase hair treatments (expensive and lasts an hour) and NOTHING!!! I just bought Jasmine Henna from LUSH cosmetics and they said it was good. Are there any other asians going through this? Does anyone know of any treatments that work for AT LEAST a couple of days or a week?! HELP!

I don't have hair just like yours, but I have coarse, dry, curly hair. I use Jasmine %26amp; henna Fluff eaze and it works wonders! My hair is soft and I hardly have to use any other product in it.

You're supposed to use it 2-3x per week and as a pre-treatment. Put it on dry hair, leave in for minimum of 20 minutes, then rinse out and shampoo and condition.

however, i also use it as a daily conditioner. My hair has never been so manageable.

Other Lush products that work very well for curly hair:

Curly Wurly (shampoo) and Coolaulin (conditioner). You might also like retread (conditioner).

How often you shampoo your hair might also be a factor in how dry and unmanageable your hair is.

I've been told it's best to wash (ie: shampoo) curly hair maximum 1x per week. Shampoo takes natural oils out of your hair, which makes curly hair dry and poofy.

Good luck!!

My hair is EXACTLY the same, and I found that Loma Peratin serum also works wonders. Just run a couple droplets through wet hair and style as usual. I won't leave the house without flat ironing my hair and this product is also great at protecting it from heat damage. Report It

Get a Japanesse streightening its a bit expensive (like 500) but it sounds like u need it. And it's only like 100 to do your roots.

You definately need to get some layers in your hair so it wont look so poofy...

And to help you need to get a deep conditioner, and use it often... Also you can try those smoothing or straightening shampoos/conditioners for daily use.

And there are alot of "straightening" serums out there that work well. I have one from John Frieda that works well.

Are you washing it every day? For dry hair you should really wash it at the most every other day, or maybe 3 or 4.

good luck!
